Just because a student's parent has passed away, should preclude the school district from educating that child.

It's not about what's right, what's wrong, or whether she was an alumni or not, I see a fundamental problem when the concern is shifted from a devoted loving teacher who spent 10 years nurturing, caring and shaping our children of this district, to concerns of setting a precendance. All teachers at Tuckahoe give so much of their time energy and creativity to mold our children into bright and brilliant young adults. All teachers whose children attend our schools should be granted this benefit to allow their children to complete their time at THS. Why such a strong resistance, why the concern? This should be a benefit given to all teachers throughout the United States. This really is bigger than just Lucille and Julia. This is about all teachers and their families having a benefit that could ease the pain to their child whose world has shattered and us being able to give this child a glimmer of hope for comfort each day surrounded by people who know them the most, friends, parents and teachers. We need the Tuckahoe friends family and teachers support and love during the most devistating time in a child's life, loosing a parent. I can't imagine anything worse for a child. Please honor please let it be.

If the wishes to remain in the district, it should be allowed. This situation, where a parent passes while the student is enrolled in elementary school, will hopefully to be a regular occurrence.

This girl deserves stability, how does a school district that should be child focused, throw a child out due to her mother dying and she is no longer "entitled" to go to school here? We've got it all wrong in Tuchaoe, what a shame!
