Request for BART to reconsider pushing back their weekday service start

This would impact a far greater number of individuals then the sf gate article indicates and force even more drivers on an already packed freeway

Bart directors: Have you ever taken the early morning trains? If you had, you'd realize that they are full. Telling thousands of commuters and employers that they will just have to deal with the delayed start time is just not an option.

We need to be promoting mass transit by keeping it accessible, not making it less so. Please find another way to do this.

I take the 4:20 train from Walnut Creek so that I can begin my workday at 5 a.m. in San Francisco. Please provide bus service if you discontinue train services. Don't leave us stranded!

Starting bart at 5 am will make it hard for me to get to work on time. Please reconsider. Think of the riders who pay your salaries for change.

Rather than pushing back the start time move up the closing time. You will impact far less riders. I ride the first train out of Bay Point each morning to get to work by 5 in the City.

I also work NY hours in the financial services industry. I do not want to pay $400+ monthly parking costs to drive in and park, or have the hassle of getting out of SF to the freeways in the afternoon. If you MUST take an hour away for more track repair time, take it out of the last hour. I believe there is less impact there.

This is going to be beyond detrimental if you do this. Workers boarding the trains at the earliest hours do so because their jobs absolutely require it. There is no flexability.

I am in the asset mgt business and my team works NY hours. This would effect us as we get in around 5:30 am.

you should start at 330 out of Antioch - i need to be in sf by 440am no reason to run later - just make a service track to repair trains

The BOD should ride these early trains. Look at the people and diversity the first hour of the day riders present. It is not just a numbers thing of how many riders at that time of day. It is far deeper. Fiscal impact of people having to drive and pay for parking is a very real item. Time spent on the road in the morning is minimal in comparison to the time spent coming back in the afternoons from SF...2-3 hours to Just WC, even more to Antioch/Brentwood etc. There are people than cannot absorb this impact. Travelers to SFO (today alone 9 people at 4:30 heading to SFO or OAK (on one car). There is a loss of family time when you add in all the extra travel. Daycare adjustments (time and cost). The list goes on. Yes ANY time shift will impact riders - making up time for lost repairs and poor planning needs to be done in the same time window that currently exists. Overruns (time and cost) will occur (they always do) Hire more workers, single track runs on 10 car trains (11pm-12am and 4am to 5am) leaving one side open for that extra time to repair. Only have 2 trains in the first and last hour and augment with busses that are point to point. These are peoples live's please do not make 'generalizations' and rash decisions. Ride the trains- people are angry, frustrated and very concerned. Poor execution on long term plans doesn't warrant the trickledown effect this will have on riders and their lives.

This move will impact many workers from a diverse mix of industries. The first trains are packed to the gills already w muni drivers, construction works, corporate folks - plz fina another solution - you will put so many more cars on the road and jam up SF streets - the collateral damage will not be worth it.

My job requires that I be in San Francisco at 5 am as I work for stock traders that work NY market hours. As an IT professional Bart is the only economical way to commute from my far east bay residence. a shift to a 5 am train start would affect my financial status dramatically.

Delaying BART service an hour will do nothing to increase productivity for their "refurbishment project." The only thing it will do is inconvenience commuters who have to get to work early. But since when has BART cared about its riders?

Stop service at 11pm then or at the least compromise, but 5am???? You will lose so many riders, FOREVER.
