We, the undersigned Republicans, congratulate Speaker Boehner and Leader McConnell on the hard-fought and well-earned electoral victories of 2014, which have secured the largest Republican majority in decades.

As fellow Republicans, we look forward to this new majority, and we remain dedicated to supporting our party in its efforts to defend the Constitution, grow the US economy, and bring economic opportunity to all.

We also agree with Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) that immigration reform should be part of the legislative agenda of the 114th Congress. Republicans have a unique opportunity to offer the nation a constitutionally sound, compassionate, just, and economically beneficial response to our current immigration crisis. Such legislation should include, but not be limited to:

1) A streamlining of current US immigration law to allow for expedited legal entry of immigrants;

2)A robust guest-worker program that respects the legitimate needs of the US economy and allows for economic growth;

3) An end to inhumane deportations of undocumented immigrants, in order to maintain the integrity of families, the fundamental building block of society;

4) Enhanced border security and employment verification to protect American citizens;

5) A pathway to citizenship for those unauthorized immigrants who, as members of our communities and families, have demonstrated their patriotism and deserve full recognition as U.S. citizens.

As the 2010 GOP nominee for Illinois Secretary of State I am asking our legislators to not make a HUGE mistake after Obama's correct announcement. I was born in Honduras, served in our US Marines and I want Immigration Reform now - NOT infighting with Obama (even though I did not vote for him).

I demur on #4. I, the Rutherford Institute, and Alex Nowrasteh have written much against the disaster for citizens of E-Verify. I am also researching the dramatic economic benefit of as much more legal immigration as we will permit, which if true means we are shooting ourselves in the economic foot with any numerical restrictions at all. But definitely, the little bit lawmakers are considering is better than the nothing we are getting.
