Because Lionsgate doesn't believe Repo! the Genetic Opera can generate any more money for them, millions of die-hard fans are cheated out of seeing the hours of extra footage and behind-the-scenes that were cut from the DVD. It is entirely plausible that most of these fans would pay anything to get their hands on this footage, and that a second release would cause even more popularity of this instant cult classic. As this is written, there are showings and shadowcasts of this stageplay-turned-film still being played in theatres, put on by those passionate fans, almost three years later. If we can gather enough signatures on this petition to show them that there are plenty of people out there who love this musical, maybe Lions Gate will reconsider creating a special-edition director's cut of the film.
