I have started this petition because I feel that a person who “Identifies” and looks “African” American should play the role of the iconic Nina Simone. Coming from a person who Sings, I take offense to that fact that a person who cannot sing and who does not match Nina’s description can be chosen to play her because she is a known actress. I think it is disturbing that a person, who identifies as Puerto Rican/Dominican, would take on roles of “African” American figures. Anyways, there are a thousand’s of “African” American women who can play the role of a person who was African American and who made it clear what her ethnicity was.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

For Hollywood to allow things like this to happen is a disgrace. Zoe, it’s nothing against you, it’s about what’s right. Just because a person is famous does not mean they should be casted in roles that do not apply to them. This is just another way to kick African American women out of Hollywood.
