As a current SKC student of the past 3 years, my classmates and I have witnessed the most unprofessional uncalled for actions by SKC president and her workers she keeps near to her. Little Shell got their recognition maybe the Boham family should go to their home and give up on destroying SKC campus and tribal students lives. So many native students have been dropped because of the learning style of "experiential learning" and switching to a "university" or "non tribal institution" the Bohams have created a stir of trauma for us students. Grants and scholarships have been mismanaged for departments. Students are suffering. Passionate native instructors have been bullied daily from the Bohams gang and ultimately faced with resigning or being fired. Now student housing is targeting native students with obscene rules since the new director Tawnee Boham has been hired. All of the antics to disrupt the culture to mainstream University SKC have been unethical. The students are taken the trauma daily, it feels like we are in a boarding school with all the harassing antics from the Bohams. Sandra has attempted to stir changing the name and logo of SKC but in a deceiving way that students proposed the change. Although us students are not aware of the scams we want nothing to do with all this mess thst effects the campus daily with gossip and arguements. Skc had great value to students now is completely destroyed with majority of students dropped from the change to university and no culture appropriation. The values of skc are not culture appropiate as in the skc handbook. Fire the demons! Students are suffering. No scholarships are given to the disadvantaged native students even if they are eligible or if stated tribally concerned. Scholarships go to those who are on the bandwagon of a cheap university, (nursing, stem majors) the native American Department is targeted. I sat in a board meeting afterwards the big knife staff (Sandras oposse) conversation was all a hit on NAS

In 2015 me and my companion were punished for reaching out for help during a critical period in our family and education. My companion was ostracized and banished. He sought the aid of CSKT public defender to represent him where she made contact with Sandra to come to an arrangement for my companion to finish his educational plan at SKC but she flat out refused to meet or allow him to complete his education. We have since moved away from campus but due to banishment my companion cannot even come to watch his children play basketball or participate in any community events at the gym in fear of being arrested for trespassing. He has to meet Terrace off campus to handle his school loan issues. In the beginning when we reached out for help we were doing what we have been taught by our elders. To come forth humbly, not matter how shameful, and ask for help sincerely, and help will be given when asked for. Instead we were done the opposite and harshly judged. We were made to feel less than and barriers were put in place against my companions ability to finish his education. It has hurt my family economically and we struggle to make ends meet. He just wants to finish his degree.

I AGREE 100% and truly believe that the spirit of SKC is lost. A lot of good instructors are no longer there due Sandra being a puppet. I also believe a instructor that just came to SKC in fall of 2018 should also be let go. I experienced racism from her and know she’s very manipulative to others believing her. She is one of the ones that has changed SKC and is the reason SKC has been going downhill. She uses Sandra as a puppet. I have had many ask if SKC is a good school to go to and at one time I would say absolutely but now I say no and it’s only because I feel it’s gone or going downhill.

I feel that the current president is running SKC into the ground. Several valuable instructors that truly cared about Native Americans getting educated have left. The things that made SKC a great college no longer remain. There is no longer a sense of belonging or being a part of a community. The board needs to wake up and see what is really happening, go talk to the SKC community. the students and most important the staff that left.

I worked as faculty for 9 years and in the business office for 7 years a total of 16 years. I served under Joe, Robert, Luana, and Sandra. I am an SKC alumni. The current administration is hurting SKC and the work environment is toxic. I don’t understand their leadership decisions. Many of the decisions they have made hurts the students bottom line. I would like to remind everyone the reason tribal colleges were created was to NOT be like mainstream academic institutions. Tribal colleges were created to offer a unique special learning experience for native people. The current administration believes that they can just throw anyone in a classroom they don’t get that it takes a special skill to be a great tribal college instructor. Most SKC faculty spend countless hours preparing for classes, they volunteer to serve on committees, they serve as student club advisors, many teach 15 credits or more a quarter, and lastly they spend many hours advising and listening to students. The faculty and students deserve better.

SKC is a different institution then it was in years past. I am a CSKT member and SKC graduate. I am well aware of unethical hiring practices that include nepotism and cronyism. Faculty and staff morale is down, student engagement is also lower than I have ever seen. This CSKT’s tribal collage. Where are the Salish, Kootenai and Pend d’Orielle tribal member faculty? I know qualified tribal members have applied and were not selected. That in itself veers away from board approved policy. Additionally, there seems to be a hemorrhage of well qualified faculty and staff who are passionate about instructing and serving tribal students who are resigning or let go.
I hope the governing board takes sone time to look at this issue. Speak to faculty and staff. Really see what is going on.

The current president is not a good choice at all. She didn’t have to apply, she was handed the position. Time for her to go back where she came from.
