Replace new year firework displays with greener alternatives (#gofireless).

Office of the Mayor of London responds: Whilst installations of this nature (#LumiereLondon) are delightful, they are localised and could not replace the more widely impactful New Year's Eve Fireworks which light up the river and wider city. They are also of particular importance in terms of bringing tourism to the city, which results in a multi-million pound boost to the capital's visitor economy, and also attracting future business" So I wonder if our planet can be replaced once we have attracted enough tourists and helped the economy? Wonder if we are being slightly short-sighted here? We have an opportunity to lead the change, especially when we have already demonstrated that we have the means to use alternative light displays.

This suggestion is worth taking forward. Fireworks certainly is a health hazard as well as an environmental issue. Clean alternatives, of which lights display is a great alternative, must be looked up at.
