I am very passionate about replacing the monument of Frank Rizzo with one of the greatest Americans to ever contribute to this country, Thomas Paine.
Here's why:
1. Thomas Paine was a de facto founding father. Without his 1791 *The Rights of Man*, there would likely be no Declaration of Independence.
2. He never owned any slaves, and he was a staunch abolitionist until his death.
3. People don't know enough about Mr. Paine. For all the contributions he's made to this country, we hardly ever see his image around. He's a footnote in history classes; a figure in the carpet.
4. What could be a more appropriate location to place a Thomas Paine statue than Thomas Paine Plaza? It's the perfect opportunity to honor an American hero, while doing away with a dark part of Philadelphia's past.
I hope you'll consider this suggestion seriously, and I look forward to making the necessary progress in this city in the wake of the harrowing tragedy of Charlottesville.

Its about time. Rizzo was trash and never did nothing for this city but cause division. Thomas Paine actually stood for something good. Get that statue off our streets already.
