I am tired of the fuss about a Gay MP for the General Elections. This petition is crucial because it is sad that such intolerance for sexuality exist in Singapore. Many may not like what I am going to say, but most Singaporeans are VERY hypocritical, they say its ok to be gay but not with their kids. If the law(377A) is not repealed, we are only teaching our kids and future generations to hate. What is the difference between racial/gender discrimination and sexuality discrimination. This is an obstacle for Singapore and only if we can face it, we can have "peace and equality" (our national pledge). Irregardless of the law passed, there WILL be unhappy people but we still do it because we know its for the good of the country. A petition to ban openly gay MPs are giving Singaporeans a hate "message". I guess you have seen the petition (http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/nogaymp), I personally found it to be extremely childish and it is the last straw for me because to choose a leader basing solely on the grounds of their sexuality instead of capability is the same as not choosing someone because of their race. I strongly urge all Singaporeans, Gay Straight or Bi, to think rationally and repeal the law successfully this time and vote OBJECTIVELY for the good of the nation.
