This is a horrible money making decision by the medical team for DSHS. Many well meaning foster parents who do not want the flu shot will no longer be able to bless young children.

I Do NOT agree with this at all! I shouldn't be forced to do something, especially when it's not guaranteed to work!

We were coerced into bringing our kids "up to date" on vaccines in order to get licensed last year, all the while being told the law was changing. Low and behold it changed but isn't what we were told. I am putting my foot down now.

This immunization should be left up to the foster families. There is no guarantee that the shot for the flu will work and we can still go to Walmart and carry the germs home. You are asking families the open their heart and their homes to do this but you're not are not requiring staff birthparents to have this immunization and meeting rooms are not sanitized after each visit.

As a foster parent I have had 5 little ones ages 0-2 placed with me in the last year on a short term basis until a relative could be located and cleared. I love these kids, but I will not get the flu vaccine. With a terrible shortage of foster homes already the kids are going to be the ones that suffer if the state chooses to enforce this.

I feel this is unconstitutional, we should be able to decide if we are going to have a flu shot.And my personal feelings are I would not take it.

The vaccine itself has risks and is no guarantee that one will not come down with the illness. It's a guessing game annually to try and figure out which strains of the influenza virus will be most prevalent to craft a vaccination against. This decision is not evidence-based and will result in the loss of countless foster families who will raise their age limit of dependent children accepted rather than submit to the government mandate that they vaccinate their families against their will and better judgement. Or foster families will simply close their homes and license to future placements, resigning from foster care altogether. It may also mean that sibling groups in foster care could be split up if one of them is under two years of age and placed in a foster home which is not flu-vaccinated.

I choose not to get the flu vaccine each year for myself and my children. Why did a law get passed to strip this right away from me. Even the liberal news reports that the flu vaccine is marginal in its effectiveness. Did the vaccine company line the pockets of Olympia to get this bill passed?

We are not running hospitals, childcare center or orphanages, we are opening our homes to kids in need. Foster parents rights are slowly being chipped away. We should not be subject to forced vacinations. The Biological parents are allowed to choose whether or not to vacinates, why can't we?

A recent report in the Lancet Infectious Disease showed that the flu vaccine is only 59% effective, on average. That's not much more than a half the people who get one.. not tomention it contain thimerosal, which is a form of mercury, which if we know anything from science, we know that even trace amounts of mercury are dangerous.

I do not agree with this at all. Especially since social workers, visit supervisors and even foster children are not required. This is absurd and I am truly disappointed by this decision

What you're doing is not right. If the children need to be required, I can stand behind that , as they are in temporary custody of the state.. But I should still have the right to choose for myself, as an adult, wether I agree to have something injected into my body.
