Dogs who have responsible owners should be able to enjoy the park. Lots of children love dogs and should be able to enjoy them in the park. Should we ban children who run a muck with no parental supervision?

I have found that small cities like Hudson that want to attract visitors as well as make their public spaces more appealing and popular are dog-friendly. I've just cut a prominent attraction in the Carolinas off my itinerary because I travel with a dog, and last year it was dog-friendly. This year it is not, and I simply cannot visit. At the same time, I recall with great pleasure visits to dog-friendly towns like Burlington, Vermont; Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach, Florida; and Charlottesville, Virginia. It works for them and the locals seem to enjoy it.

Walking a well behaved dog is a wonderful way to meet and greet your neighbors. And of course we would clean up. There should be stiff fines for dogs off leash (except Luci and Desi), for the dog's protection.

I don't have a dog, but I do love meeting them and their owners as I stroll through our city streets. With that in mind, it strikes me that no friendly city is complete without happy dog owners, and given the sheer number of dogs in this city, banning them just seems, well, churlish. Trust the people. Let them enjoy their waterfront park with their dogs. Just make sure they stay on the red brick road, and pick up their poop on their way out.

Opps! I thought it was already OK to walk dogs on leash in the park; I have, mostly in the summer. I do think it should be legal. Like any dog walking in Hudson, they need to be on leash and owners have to clean up after them, so why should a park be any different? Now, a separate play area where dogs are allowed to be off leash, somewhere away from traffic and toddlers, that would be anOTHER fantastic proposal. Hilary, (Skye and Gryphon)

Seeing happy dogs makes me feel happy, too, and I imagine dogs enjoy green, open space as much as people do. I think it's a shame to ban dogs from any part of the limited open space we have in the city.

I had no idea that our furry-footed, four-legged friends weren't allowed in Riverfront Park. Dogs, on leashes, should be allowed in Riverfront Park.

Every major park in every city in this country allows dogs on leashes. We should have a dog park too, but there's no rational reason dogs on leashes should be kept from Riverfront Park.

The law outlawing dogs in Henry Hudson Riverfron Park is nasty. The law penalizing the miniscule number of irrisponsible dog owners who do not clean up after their dogs, with a heavy fine, is nice.
Repeal this silly prohibition!
