& I thought Bush v. Gore was bad! How many times can we allow this to happen? Nearly THREE MILLION more votes for Hillary??? What could be worse? We Progressives love our Country too!

If we went with the popular vote, everyone's vote would count equally. Maybe more people would vote. I just read this morning that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 2.24 million votes. This sickens me.

The electoral vote was allowed in the past because many Americans were illiterate. But we no longer need it today. I join others to repeal it and use the popular vote instead.

Whoever wins the majority of votes wins the Presidency, that is how a democracy works - except in the US, repeal this anachronism! Twice now in 16 years the majority lost the presidency, in 2000 which brought us the Iraq war and now Trump, a guy who made his money on the backs of cheating small businesses, went bankrupt several times, left investors and banks (us) holding the bag, paid no taxes in years, whose Kremlin buddies undermined the elections and cheered, a serial philanderer, etc. etc. and now represents the USA in the world. A First Lady whose nude pictures are splashed across the tabloids with headings such as "Meet the new First Lady"

Our voice is not heard. We don't seem to exist to the elite. The electoral college must be abolished in favor of the popular vote.

I want my individual vote to count and mean something. As it is we are not being counted and heard.

Almost half of the electorate did not vote. It isn't apathy. It's knowing that your vote won't count in a particular state. We have stepped into the 21st century in so many ways. Time to do the same for a true democracy where EVERY VOTE COUNTS.

The next Democratic President should repeal the Electoral College. The concept has become outdated and puts states above individual votes.

The Electoral College gave us George Bush, thus the Iraq war, thus the Arab Spring, thus the rise of the Alt Right, thus Donald trump, and now it has given him the White House in spite of losing the popular vote. This does not feel like a true democracy if not everyone's vote carries the same weight.;

This 2016 election is the straw that broke the camel's back. The fact that the popular vote chose to elect Hillary Clinton, but the electoral votes elected Trump instead just shows that we need to put the electoral voting system out to pasture. We as a people now have many ways to elect our officials and no longer need the electoral "proxy" to decide who we want to elect. I want our votes to count - they don't count with electoral votes, and, therefore, don't represent "We The People."

Let's also have a national primary election. Otherwise the South decides who wins.

We have needed to go back to the electoral vote for many years now. We need to allow the American public to be heard on popular vote.
