America was founded on July 4, 1776 by children of immigrants on ideals of democracy and fairness influenced by the people, but now American officials are determined to prevent illegal immigration. The most recent action the government has taken against illegal immigrants is the Support our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act, a.k.a SB 1070. Although this law was meant to prevent illegal immigration it has been accused of causing mass racial profiling. The law says that all public officials have to ask someone for their so called "papers" if they look suspicious. In other words, they are asking the police to harass mexicans because they are usually the ones who cross the border illegally in that area. Throughout my campaign I hope to receive a number of signatures so we can eliminate this ghastly law. The petition will be advertised through a brief commercial that will inform the general public about this appalling law and where to find the petition.
