Charter Schools are a thinly veiled divide and conquer strategy. The CA Charter School Act of '92 is unconstitutional. CA legislature should follow the example of Washington state and repeal the act making them extra-constitutional. Long live free and quality public education.

We need to rebuild public schools available equally to all students, regardless of circumstance.

Too many charter schools are leaving students unprepared for subsequent education.

Allowing so many charters to open and be run by businessmen and not educators in the field has caused instability in public education. It has also caused discrimination, as many charters do not keep and provide services for students with special needs/ IEPs nor for English Language Learners. In causes instability in the sense that schools are opening and closing, opening and closing. There is no such thing as an alma mater anymore, because schools are unstable.

Charter schools is just another aspect of the move to privatize what is public--e.g., prisons, water, Post Office, etc., etc. And a major goal of the privatization movement is to destroy labor unions, which created the middle class in this country. The demise of labor unions correlates with the demise of the middle class.

Charter schools have not proven that they are doing a better job teaching our kids than public schools. Further, they are taking precious monies from our already underfunded public schools. Last, teachers at charter school have no union and feel pressured to over work with less pay. How can a stressed out teacher help kids?

Charter schools cannot prove that they are doing a better job than public schools. Also teachers there work longer hours, no Union and less pay. Furthermore they are easily fired for no reason.

Charter Schools exist to derail public education. This serves the corporate interests. Period.

Charter schools divert scarce resources from our public schools, yet lack public accountability. They do not need to comply with ED Codes that ensure fairness, non-bias, equity.
