my dad would support your efforts. He was a nationally lauded educator - the public high school he founded won the national award for Excellence In Education in 82/83. He never supported charter schools and argued against them and vouchers decades ago.

We cannot have a true democracy until every student has access to a good education. Charter schools drain money from public schools and contribute to our crisis in education.

Charter schools are literally strangling our public schools. It’s time for the law to be changed and for the charter reign of terror to end.

When education is a for profit enterprise, students always lose. Strengthen our public schools; shut down the failing charter school scam!

No more charter schools . Education should be free for everyone, even the common man. Remember the father of education Horace Mann.

Current law violates the public's interest in education for all students. Charter schools are not held accountable, and they require resources taken away from public schools.

Corporate charter schools divert funds from public school districts while failing to maintain academic standards. To the extent that corporate charter schools meet educational goals, it is in direct correlation to their expulsion of students of color and students in poverty.

I'm a mom of a kiddo on the spectrum at Grandview Elementary. They want co locate with a charter and I am afraid of the impact it will have on the SED classes there. So no to charter schools.

I am a teacher. Thank you for supporting public education and the unions. We need each other if workers have a chance to be heard against big business interests.

If money is the issue at hand, please consider the fiscal burden this will have on the state. It will cost about $2 billion dollars to have all the changes made, according to the CCSA. Transferring such a large amount students plus the costs of buying additional resources to integrate all these students into already heavily impacted schools would be counter productive. If it's feared that Charter schools take money from the tradition public schools, it is cited over many times that money follows the students and students have the choice to chose what schools to attend. Also, charter schools receive less public funding because they aren't entitled to all the forms of funding. The only charters that make a profit make up less than 1% of charters in California. Overall, this initiative will not beneficial to our education system because the large claims made against charters are false most of the time or only tell half the story.

Charter schools are 100% for profit industry! They could care less about our kids, and I know this from personal experience! They are self regulated and a malicious mafia! All "Academica Corp" Charter schools are run by the worst mafia of all! I am happy to share my story with any media outlet.

Presenting an exclusive point of view is indoctrination, not education. Intellectual progress requires the expression, exploration and synthesis of divergent positions.

Private, for-profit Charter Schools must not receive public funds that are greatly needed for our public school system. They must be funded by the businesses that profit from them!
