Current medical students are being told that they may not be getting an internship post after graduation solely due to the mode in which they applied to medical school (CAO vs Non-CAO applicants). Students who applied through the CAO, regardless of their centile ranking in the class, will automatically be considered before Non-CAO applicants. This means that Irish and EU citizens who did not apply through the CAO are being discriminated against and may leave medical school hundreds of thousands of euro in debt with no job prospects in Ireland.
If the governing bodies wish to change the criteria or similar criteria in the future then the responsible thing to do would be to change it for the entering class of medical students so that they can make an informed decision when they are deciding whether or not to take up a course of study in Ireland without the worry that their opportunity to make a prosperous living will be diminished.
Fair is Fair- you can't promise one thing at orientation and deny it at graduation.

I have been staying up way too late reading all the messages from people who feel like their entire future is being pulled out from under them right when they are supposed to be starting their careers. It honestly keeps me awake thinking about how these policies were implemented with zero regard for the people who actually trusted the system when they enrolled in the first place because that seems so unfair to me. I am currently trying to figure out who I need to talk to next because this cannot just be the way things are going to be for us.

Students and Medical Universities were not informed of changes to the selection criteria in advance of the application process.
Rules are rules and all should have to follow them. Can't change the rules from what you offered at Orientation .
Medicine is stressful enough. Knowing that I wont be getting an Irish internship which I require, that increases my stress ten fold.
An EU citizen is an EU citizen regardless of what way they entered medical school. That's one of the good things about the EU is equal employment rights for all citizens.
I understand a country looking out for their citizens in terms of job security. But with the amount of money international students pay, I think class rankings should account for something.
We all deserve jobs at the end of the day, each one of us has put in the same effort, time and money. If you can't offer us jobs then why take us in in the first place?
I'm not a lawyer but this looks like a bait-and-switch scheme. I suggest a lawsuit be considered (or threatened) ASAP.

It isn't fair, some of us are paying as high as €48 000 a year! And when we came to ucd to study we didn't expect this or we would've made a different decision.
