They owe us. I am for equal pay for women, but I am also for equal pay and opportunity access for African Americans. According to the US Census, approximately 25% of African Americans household incomes are below the poverty level, less than $15,000 per year.

yes, if this country can afford to spend trillions on the military budgets, trillions in bail outs, trillions to prisons and trillions on religious institutions then this government can afford to pay reparations to the African American community

I, Pamela Woodley Wells am a descendant of Slaves. My Grandparents told Me that My last name was given to them by a British slaveowner. As an African American who has studies the Transatlantic Slave Trade it's inevitable that all Blacks have been psychological traumatized by the horrendous inhumane paradigm of Slavery and the disparaging disenfranchisement that Slaves sufferers the to the dynamic of indentured servitude, which continues to be a pervasive issue in America today.
I advocate reparations for Black America because We deserve it and demand that the Federal Government and all businesses that capitialized on the labor of Slaves pay for the disenfranchisement of the Black race.

Reparations in the Form of Black Student Federal Loan Forgiveness
Dear Sir and Madam, 9/14/2015
This paper is to request your participation to petition President Obama to begin an action to relieve African American students of a significant amount of the 1.2 trillion dollars in student loan debts. According to a study conducted by the Wisconsin Hope Lab , there is a substantial racial disparity in families’ need to borrow for college, such that black students depend much more heavily on access to loans than white families, and leave college with a great deal more in student loan debt than their white counterparts. Research indicates that family wealth has powerful impacts on college opportunities, exhibiting effects even stronger than those played by family income. Moreover, racial disparities in wealth are large, growing, and unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
Black students—whose families disproportionately do not own homes or retirement accounts and who cannot rely on intergenerational transfers for support—are far more likely to borrow not only federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans, but also have fewer alternative sources of credit beyond Parent PLUS loans. Indeed, our analyses indicate that differences in parental net worth and home ownership explain a substantial portion of the black-white gap in student loan debt among young adults.
In light of the current concerns the African American community has about the Obama administration helping black people, reparations in the form of student loan forgiveness would be right and fair to the descendants of those who have paid such a heavy price. For an administration that called heavily on black youth that contributed significantly to his two terms as the first black President of the United States. This petition is right, proper and just. Your influence in requested to achieve this goal for the black community that is on the verge of becoming further marginalized with the deterioration of the black
