I get so sick of these holier-than-though (& this is not their dance) TV people, dumping on "the South" & it's history, when there's always 2-sides & this side never talked about. The Civil War was wrong, but it happened & NOBODIES hands were clean, so...
You want the truth!? (You can't handle the truth!!) But it's gospel & you know-it-all's of the old South & the Civil War better brush up on YOUR "education", before you open your big mouths!
Now it's "Dixie's" turn...when do they get paid?
And let me stress, when I first heard about reparations from over 150 years ago to people who didn't even have great-great grandparents from that period, not a horse in the race, but in reality it's another way of getting free money from the U.S. Government...Well, IT COULD GO BOTH WAYS technically. I think it's ludicrous to take reparations of a war 2 centuries back, either way! I just wanted to make a point.

During and after the War between the States acts of violence and terror were committed against the Southern people by a federal government bent on revenge. Though we had been a separate nation, our right to self a govern was ignored and we were treated horrifically. This must be rectified and summarily dealt with through the means of financial payments to the descendants of the Confederate soldiers and civilians so affected.

Those "Yankees" burned my great grandfather's house when he was a small child in South Carolina, while his father was off defending the South.

War crimes were committed by Union troops. All native Southerners deserve reparations for the mental and physical suffering experienced due to the barbaric acts perpetrated by Union troops and condoned by the United States government.
