The school staff has decide to permanently close the Westgreen gate because certain delinquent students use the Westgreen gate to leave school unannounced.
However, by closing the gate they are punishing students who use the entrance to get to school and creating a dangerous traffic hazard on Kingsland thus risking student lives.
Additionally, closing the Westgreen gate does not even stop delinquent students from leaving in the middle of the day. They will just leave through Kingsland or the parking garage.
We demand that the gate be reopened to preserve the safety of us (the students) and so we will be able to get to school on time.

The administration has acknowledged the volume of this petition and requested a meeting to discuss traffic safety on Kingsland. I am currently drafting a formal proposal to address the security concerns while restoring student access to the Westgreen entrance.

if you close the exit the parking lot will be more chaotic after school when people are leaving.
It isn’t fair and causes everyone to be late to school, and it isn’t going to stop students from leaving early. It’s only 2/3 students, there’s many more coming from Miller.
This is the only way for me to get to school everytime I go through the Kingsland side I almost get hit because you cannot see traffic if the cars back up
Late arrival people also can’t into school. I was late to class because i had to drive around to the Kingsland entrance
Kids have early release and other reasons to leave school early. Closing a gate won’t stop kids to leave. It’s basic logic.

I almost got hit due to the closed gate on westgreen a few days ago. I have been suffering trauma ever since, but I believe reopening the gate will alleviate my pain and stress.

I and a lot of other cars were coming from Miller, and out of habit, we turned in to the parking lot and then realized the gates were closed. Both me and a truck had to back out on to incoming traffic
