Historically the flappit was used for many many year without major incident. Since its closure I have continuously read in the news about nuisance riders in residential areas.

This has been a place to go with bikes for so many years, it was a place to ride for everyone that could not afford the price of off road centres and kept bikes off tye roads. That said it was enjoyed by old and young, allocating bike only days would vastly improve safety up there and if you want volunteer marshals put my name at the top of the list.

Reopen the flappits But take control this time.. Make a circuit/track that is marked out for the motocross lads. And leave the rest open to free roam for the enduro/4x4 community.

One tragic death resulted in the enforced closure of this site many years ago. When somebody is killed in any other sport/ pastime (or on the roads for that matter), we don't completely ban it, we find a way to learn from mistakes and make it safer. There's an obvious income making potential here, either for the council or private owners and I can't believe they can't see that. I'd love to be able to take my kids to the flappit on a weekend and would happily pay for the privilege. Fingers crossed the site is reopened so we can all enjoy a relatively safe, fun day out....

Treat it as a tourist attraction with an increase in revenue for the council.
