I have a One-on-One Nail Salon and work by myself. I have put every requirement in place for safe salon re-opening at the cost of a small fortune. Out of the four months we were required to be closed, I was only able to re-open for one week. I would like the opportunity to remain open as I was trained in infection control, sanitation and disinfection in order to get my license. I believe I am uniquely qualified to operate safer than say a department store because not only do I have stringent protocols in place, but again, there is only myself and one client in my salon at a time. My clients agree to a health screening with questions a contact-less thermometer before services can begin. They are compliant in washing their hands and wearing face masks for the entire time they are in my salon. They have commented how safe they feel while in the salon. I even have a Medical Doctor who was in the week I was open who was confident in my protocols.
I have signs posted at the front and back doors of my salon instructing clients to wear a face mask while in my establishment, to wash their hands upon entering and to maintain social distancing if there is someone else in the salon. I have a hands-free hand soap dispenser and paper towel dispenser in the restroom along with a foot operated lined trash can. All common surfaces are cleaned and disinfected with soap and water, then hospital grade disinfectant after each client. All non-reusable items such as files, buffers, cotton, are one use only and disposed of after each service. All metal implements are cleaned with soap and water, then fully immersed in hospital grade disinfectant for 10 min., then rinsed and dried. Once they are fully dried, they are placed in a sealed container until the next service. All nail polish is on swatch sticks that can be disinfected in a UV Light Sanitizing light box after each service. Clean Towels are used for each service. Soiled Towel are placed in a lined closed laundry hamper and washed

Open up salons so my wife can stop working outside where she is exposed to numerous dangers including, dangerous heat and sun exposure, unpredictable and dangerous homeless individuals, and the list goes on. Stylists are way better prepared than many other professions as they undergo countless hours of sanitation training. If the state is willing to close salon doors, they should also be willing to help pay for rent, and all overheads for these businesses so that they can protect what they work so hard to build in the first place.
Open salons. They should be first responders.

I am a salon owner on the verge of losing my salon, stylists and my marriage die to the financial hardships. I’m at my wits end, I cannot deal with the stress and on top of this I have NO MONEY to get mental help.

The extended closing of those practices is allowing for a black market of clandestine house calls forcing honest professionals to defy their morals in order to survive. Let them work honestly. It is no more dangerous than a waiter that touches your utensils or the chef that prepares your food, actually it is less risky than.

We are trained, licensed, and prepared to work safely in our salons. Working outdoors is not safe or sanitary.
