Some people who are making comments have no clue as to what they are talking about....they don't realize that the death total for the US is lower this year then the four previous years. If over 200K people have died from covid alone, then were are the numbers to prove that...there are no numbers, because the majority of people who are dying from this virus are those with severe comorbidities and we have no clue if they actually had the virus or not. The masks are not helping and I'm sick and tired of people saying that no one is wearing them when everyone I see out is wearing one. This governor is doing nothing but destroying our state by closing all businesses except for those that he sees as vital such as Walmart, Kroger, the liquor stores and of course the abortion facilities for the killing of the innocent. Also, he managed to get in office illegally...there should be an investigation about the voting machines and how they managed to destroy votes for Biven and give them to Beshear...how did all of the republicans manage to get into office, but not the republican governor. People need to start asking questions and demanding answers and our legislature needs to be in control of the governor to prevent his evil deeds from destroying our state.

Every person should be able to make their own decisions, ruining people's lives over something that is 99.9% survivable is ludicrous. There are some businesses that are gone for good and the government isn't going to do anything about it. They don't care that they're responsible for collapsing businesses all in the name of their new safety god.
The government works for the people not the other way around. The government is supposed to do what's right for "We the people" and let us live our lives without interference. We are not children, if an individual wants to take extra precautions then they can do that but do not force others who are not afraid to do anything.

There's zero proof that these measures are necessary! Beshear hasn't shown verifiable proof of anything Why is the restaurant industry being targeted? Journalists & our news media arent even asking tough questions to justify these draconian measures. It's really unbelievable that so many agree with peoples livelihoods being destroyed for political games.

There is no rhyme or reason to Breshear's actions. He allows all of the big box stores to remain open giving them banner year earnings while putting his foot on the throats of the small businesses. At one time he ordered bars to close at 10 PM. Is the virus more deadly at 10:01? The number of small businesses he is killing is putting countless people out of business and out of their homes directly to the street. There has to be a better way to spread the business around between big and small businesses. We do need to protect ourselves but at what cost for a virus that reportedly has over a 99% recovery rate.

James, first, you're and idiot. That being said, you are just like all the other liberal elite who want a class system setup in our country. Your condescending statement at the end the "you have and education" and everyone else that doesn't agree with your flawed opinion is uneducated. You should be ashamed of yourself. You are just like our pathetic Governor who gives opinions but no evidence to back anything up. There is no irrefutable evidence that the virus spreads in restaurants any more than Kroger, Walmart, Target, liquor stores, etc. For every study that you post with so called evidence I can post 10 equally as scientific studies that show the opposite results.
So stay in our pompous world, drawing a full paycheck while drinking your latte and look down on those that are less fortunate. You will be judged when the day comes.

Deborah, I am sure you are like all the liberal "believers". A total hypocrite!! If our world was REALLY worried about the pandemic then Kroger, Walmart, Liquor stores, abortion clinics, manufacturing facilities, and everything else should be closed. I am sure you pack into Kroger and Walmart shoulder to shoulder with everyone else spreading the virus like wildfire while the whole time acting holier than thou and blaming everything on restaurants. Also, I am sure you and your family have a full paycheck to live on while you work at home in your plush home office drinking starbucks coffee from your keurig. Killing small businesses will not cure the pandemic. It will only kill small businesses and hurt the less fortunate in our society. But stay on your liberal elite soapbox and pretend you are better than everyone else because the rest of us know the truth.

Dec 01, 2020After the pandemic is over, I will remember the restaurants and businesses that refused to put the public health first and never support them again. Nice to have a list here to refer to. The pandemic is going to continue to destroy lives and livelihoods until we come together as a community to stop the virus. Until everybody feels safe, the economy is not going to recover, so do what you want, but you are hurting yourselves more in the long run.

This picking and choosing what can stay open and what cannot is crazy. We can't send our kids to school but we can still go to Walmart, the mall , or the gym. We can't go out and eat but we can go to out local high school football game, a carriage ride downtown or through the Christmas lights. We can go to a wedding or funeral but cannot visit our elderly who are dying from loneliness. How many people have committed suicide here before the holidays because they lost their job serving, or cooking, etc... They cannot provide for their families, losing their livelihood. I know we all need to stay safe, but at what cost. When we really look at the overall picture what all are we losing.

Between 1347 and 1351 the Black Death plague tore its way through Europe, leaving between 75 - 200 million people dead in its wake. Since then we've had over 600 years of progress in science and mathematics. We've managed to send humans into space to explore the far unknown. We've seen our first African-American President of the United States. The internet connects millions of people around the world in seconds. Yet somehow after all that time ignorance still abounds. The difference now is that ignorance is deadly. The longer the public refuses to adhere to safety concerns the longer this pandemic will go on.
This needs to stop. This petition, as of this writing, is signed by 2950 people who are prime examples of 'the problem'. This pandemic and its effects on our society will continue and escalate in their severity until you people open your eyes and actually, for once in your existence, actually listen to the advice of the people with the educations.

People are capable of making informed intelligent decisions, we do no need policed by our government! Keep in mind, they are all still getting paid! Maybe they should cut governors salaries down due to the missing tax revenues from small businesses! Restaurants and bars have jumped through every hoop the state has imposed, they spent money in order to earn money, now Breshear is going to add insult to injury! No proof that this virus has been spread from restaurants and bars! We stand behind small businesses in Lexington! If Kroger, Walmart,Target etc... can open then so can restaurants, bars and all other small businesses! All the liberals who hate large corporations, this is your chance to prove it and stand up for your local citizens and their families!
