To Whom It May Concern:

We, the residents of Dorchester, Mattapan, Roxbury and Hyde Park and other adjoining communities who use the Ryan Playground at 350 River St., Mattapan, MA 02126 are respectfully and kindly asking you, our elected officials, to make it priority to renovate the ball field and add adequate flood lights at the field.

Currently, the lights do not work and the grass is not always cut on a timely basis. The lack of proper lighting encourages loitering and other suspicious activities. More importantly, we would like to utilize the field in the evenings for soccer, but currently we are not able to do so because there is not enough light around the field. As soccer get more and more popular in the States, the youths in the city need soccer fields in or near their communities to play. Presently, the field is not lined or marked out. The surface area where we play soccer is uneven and is in need of care and repair. Fixing and maintaining this field will allow the community members and residents to utilize and enjoy the ball field at the park. In addition, this enhancement will bring the field in line with other recent community improve and make it inviting and appealing. We would greatly appreciate your attention to this request.
