The university has officially announced that the faculty contracts will be renewed. I am honestly stunned by this outcome and I know that this belongs entirely to the people who spoke up. Please keep looking out for one another as we move forward together.

For Students, Parents, Faculty, and Community

Marywood University is based on five core values : Catholic Identity, Respect, Empowerment, Service, and Excellence. The recent teachers who have been cut without justification is really taking a toll on the whole University. This action is affecting everyone involved first and foremost the professors who have done nothing but display these core values as well as the student body. Please show your support for the renewal of these contracts by signing the petition provided.

I am truly overwhelmed by the momentum building behind this effort. Seeing so many people step up to protect our faculty shows just how much this community cares about the values we share at Marywood. This energy belongs to all of you.

Faculty who develop and lead programs and teach the students are the backbone of any unievrsity. There is no reason fro students to enroll if there aren't a sufficient number of dedicated, knowledgeable professors. Rescind the faculty cuts and invest in the future of Marywood.

I had actually advised my son to take a look at marywood the day the faculty cuts were announced. We crossed it right off of our list

It's understandable that colleges sometimes have to make cuts in the number of professors or staff to reflect enrollments or budgets. However, there is an appropriate process to go through and it does not sound like that was followed.

I had been planning on attending Marywood in the fall after I graduate. I don't want to enter a school that doesn't care about its faculty or students. Bring these faculty members back!

There is no worse mistake than to remove qualified and talented teachers from their positions in the name of saving money. There are always other places for cuts, and teachers should be the very last to be sacrificed on the name off cost cutting.

I have alaways seen myself as being apart of the proud alumni of Marywood university. These recent events however are making me think otherwise. Smarten up and renew the contracts of these professors. Have some decency and respect for your students and faculty who work hard all year to keep this place alive. It's truly disgusting.

Thanks for all the support for Marywood faculty and students. We need all the help we can get as the administration has shown no respect for basic values (e.g., if you hire someone in good faith in one year you should not just change your mind and take away the position in the next year for faculty without cause in terms of the faculty performance on their jobs). Our first year faculty acted in good faith to come to Marywood and hopefully the current administration or the new administration will also act in good faith. The first year faculty who were fired have shown great fidelity to Marywood core values; we should expect nothing less from senior administration and the Board of Trustees.
