I think this show would have been more popular with more advertising. I didn't know about it until it was at the end of season 2, so I ordered the DVDs and watched season 3. I think it was a rather expensive show to film but could generate a lot of advertising money if shown in the right light to the right audience.

With so many people begging for the return of this show, I'd think someone somewhere out there would bring it back. There have been shows that were no where near the depth and entertainment of this and yet we're renewed for so many more seasons. Like all The Dreadful, I am begging that you bring it back.

So I accidentally found out about Penny Dreadful. The characters have so much depth and I was particularly drawn to the fact that they are fully three dimensional. It was so nice to experience some of my favorite people as REAL people in this situation might have been if they actually lived and breathed. I found myself longing to be around them and couldn't wait to see them again. I thought finally, a show worth really getting into!!!!! I was ecstatic!!! Only to find out it had been canceled. CANCELED?!!! I just couldn't believe that with all of the absolute and complete garbage out on tv running season after dry and boring, dumbed down season, one would think that one of the few and terribly far in between outstanding shows would have no problems making it. I had decided to start getting into Showtime when I discovered Dreadful but if this stands, I will do whatever it takes to stay as far away as I can from any and all parts of this network. Talk about shooting one's self in the foot.
