Mr. Miller was doing a great job as far as I'm concerned. He is visible to the public, not hiding in his office as we had to endure witht the former ghost director!

A dedicated professional, who devoted his strengths, energy, love and experience, into making the Manchester public library even more of a community center. Manchester has benefited and glowed under his administration. Whatever you are thinking, as a librarian myself, you have made a big mistake. HIRE HIM BACK.

I'm not from your community, but drove in to host an event at James Miller's request, and was *very* impressed by Mr. Miller and the library, and for the community's emphatic appreciation for and loyalty to both. From where I'm sitting this decision seems either rash or pound-foolish, and I should hope the board takes this opportunity to reconsider.

How disappointing that the Board of Trustees chose not to renew James Miller's contract as Library Director. James' presence in the library is important to the families in this community. James' contributions are irreplacable. To pull the rug out from under him just after he moved his entire family across country to set up shop in Manchester is a stain on the Board of Trustee's record. But it is a reversable error. The Board should reinstate him.

To the Library Board of Trustees: A massive, massive mistake - I cannot quite comprehend why you would deprive the community of a man who is so obviously passionate about books and learning, and who has the gift of being able to transmit that to all who would enter the library. I have known known James since university, and it's just a shocking decision, really. If there was ever a man who was a fit for a job like this, it was him...and for some reason you either cannot see or appreciate that. For shame! You are really doing yourselves and the community a grave disservice.

The Manchester District Library, under Director James Miller, fit the needs of my young family. The library has embraced technology and programs that we use to have to leave the area to find. In fact the way my family saw the library growing was one of the leading factors for choosing to remain living in Manchester Township instead of moving back to Ann Arbor. The removal of James Miller as Director can only be seen as a setback for the Manchester Community.
