Although the show took a bit of literary license with the legal aspects of the show, the overall premise was well conceived. It provided an insight into a Latino culture outside of L.A., which is refreshing. Further, it promoted strong family values with realism. While the comedy did play on a few stereotypes, it was nice to see the push-pull of real family issues, such as loss of jobs, children with learning difficulties, and sibling differences mirrored from Cristela and Daniela to Daniela's children.

For the first time, a latina and her family, is displayed on television for who they are. Finally, a show that doesn't only show latinos as convicts, drug addicts, the negatively stereotyped "cholo" (even though historically, there is nothing negative about being a cholo/a), the housekeeper, the illiterate, and so much more. Cristela gave our community a new vision, and at such a crucial time when the immigration issue has also further divided our people.- Cristela needs to be saved by Netflix!
