Covert Affairs is a show with that rare blend of excellent production, casting, writing, and acting. Watching Annie grow and mature as an operative has been a treasure. Auggie is one of the most unique and interesting characters on television today, and I commend everyone for daring to bring such an amazing and complex character to life. While the show does need to rediscover itself a bit, it has more than earned the time to do so. The show follows the character of Annie appropriately and has seemed a little worse for the wear of everything she's been through. But just as we do in life, when we are knocked down we dig deep and become even more truly ourselves. Annie is a patriot, she only left the agency in service of her country and she needs to return to it for the same reason. Since McQuaid has proven himself a patriot as well, he is worthy of her. And her love for him and others is the bedrock of her devotion to duty. Duty for its own sake is meaningless, we always need reminders of who we are doing it all for.

I love this show! It is one of the best on the air for years now, and while USA has an outstanding lineup, Covert Affairs is strong part of that. My favorite shows have been Covert Affairs, Burn Notice, White Collar, Supernatural, and Arrow. USA is definitely doing something right, but Burn Notice has now concluded and both Covert Affairs and White Collar are on the brink? Yikes! Please, please bring Annie and Auggie back for at least one more season!
