Sir John A MacDonald was not the perfect Prime Minister. He did some terrible things to the First Nations People. Renaming schools and architecture named after him would cause us to try and erase a part of history that happened, it wasn't positive but it was history nonetheless. We need to acknowledge it, and learn from it instead of trying to forget about it. In no way do we mean for this to come off as disrespectful, we are just wanting to get our voices heard on this matter. We have nothing but complete respect for the First Nations People, and their amazing contributions to Canada. We just feel that it's important to acknowledge our mistakes, respect everyone, and work together to heal. We aren't justifying or defending Sir John A MacDonald we just don't want people who aren't of First Nations descendant to lose the understanding of how terrible this part of history truly was. To reconcile and heal we need to understand and work together
