Officer Brian W. Jones is a hero remembered and never dies so his legacy should live on for the sacrifice he made for his community. The place where he perished should be named in his honor.

Brian was an incredible man, he definitely had a heart for young people. The times I was able to be around him he always encouraged me. He was really fun to be with, a great example to us kids and I loved his personality. He made a difference in so many lives.

I feel renaming Wellington Ave in honor of the ultimate sacrifice made by NPD Officer Brian Jones is something that city government officials should have done without a petition and formal request by citizens. I have lived in Norfolk all of my 57 years and recently I have seen the city government become somewhat indifferent to the sacrifices and risks undertaken by the city's first responders. Here is an opportunity to show that the city supports those who protect and serve the citizens of Norfolk. Don't miss this opportunity.

I will never forget my NPD Academy classmate Brian Jones. This hero and his legacy should live on with this street sign change. This man was and is the true definition of honor, integrity, personal courage, and selfless service. God Bless his family and the hands that sign this petition.

I am a fellow sworn law enforcement officer of nearly 3 decacades. My family bleeds blue and their have and still are 22 at a minimum of a 4 year degree before entering the academy that have walked the thin blue line and continue to do so today in The Commenwealth of Virginia dating back to 1941. I find not doing this in The City Of Norfolk as is done in neighboring Cities throughout The Commonwealth is a slap in the face To All That Pay The Ultimate Sacrifice, but looks poorly upon The City Of Norfolk. We are supposed to be a united family "The Largest Family On Earth" The Thin Blue Line. I know my family ranges from city, state, VBI and Federal we rallied around Officer Jones Widow, His Co-Workers, The NPD and are still contributing to his family through The FOP throughout Hampton Roads. I am saddened that The City Of Norfolk would not want to honor a slain officer killed in the of duty and bring some form of closure to his family, something for his very young children to see, know daddy didn't die in vain, The City Of Norfolk Appreciated his service and a reminder to the community that actions have consequences.

This is the right thing to do.

This is an even bigger tragedy if you can't simply name a street or road after Brian. He died in your city! You should honour Brian & family by doing this simple task.

Such a hero should be forever memorialized. If only there were more Brian Joneses in this world. God bless his family and those who want his legacy to live on.
