Before reading this petition, I had thought the same thing. There is no way the park can't be called other than that: to carry the name of the best player the team has had and will ever have.

I remember going to the game when Jose return from tommy john surgery, and seeing the way the crowd reacts when he pitches is amazing!

I vowed to never step foot into the new park after it was built in place of the best stadium in Miami having hosted the historic Dolphins and canes teams. But when I heard about Jose and Giancarlo, my interest had been peaked enough to where I felt like showing my support by coming to see Jose pitch and yes break my vow to never step foot in the park. Jose threw something like 15k's that night and it was awesome to watch and made feel like our team had a future, no matter my feelings toward ownership or where the stadium stood. Jose played the game the way you want a man playing in Miami to play it. He played it well, with style and flash, and intense emotion. I love to watch the clip of Giancarlo blasting a homer, and the camera shows Jose just losing his mind screaming, banging on the dugout rail and just enjoying the game.
