John Henry Wise, Sr. is my great grandfather. It is fitting that his name be connected in an act of honor to the University of Hawaii.

It's confusing to see that UH Manoa, a "Hawaiian place of learning," would rename an area that once represented an awesome role model to the Hawaiian community to the name of a foreigner. John Wise is seen as an encouragement & a man to be proud of...but what does the Hawaiian people gain from the name "Bachman"?
