Removing institute dog, Coco from the campus for safety reasons

On behalf of many students at CSIR-IGIB to raise a serious safety concern regarding the institutional pet dog, Coco. We are deeply concerned about the increasing safety risks associated with the dog’s behavior.
Some of the key concerns are as follows:
The dog often displays aggressive behavior, frequently barking at people and, unfortunately, has bitten multiple individuals.
Coco is usually left unrestrained at night, posing a risk to those working late hours.
The dog has been unexpectedly spotted on the hostel back stairs and corridors, which is dangerous for hostel residents who may encounter it without warning.
Coco is not trained, and no one has taken responsibility to get it trained, which further increases the potential danger.
Many members of the campus are uncomfortable around dogs in general, and a hostile one especially adds to their anxiety.
Having a dog on campus is a luxury, not a necessity—especially when there is no formally designated person responsible for the dog’s care or actions. In the case of an incident, there is no clear accountability. Moreover, Coco is usually tied for long hours, which is not fair to the dog either.
In light of these concerns, many students strongly urge that Coco be removed from the campus for the safety and peace of mind of all residents. In situations involving health and safety, the discomfort and risk faced by even a few individuals must take precedence over personal preferences.
