As we grow and evolve, I believe anything that represents the hatred and crimes many white Americans had on Black and other POC should be criminalize. Why should a statue that is supposed to bring honor in a town, city, or county be of someone or something that stand for hate or divided. Therefore, TAKE THIS STATUE DOWN!!!!!!

It’s time for change. That statue represents what we fight against everyday.... prejudice, racism, and people with a slave owner mentality. No justice no peace

Black life’s matter more than my very own. I would lay my life down and even though I may of not of caused harmed personally, I would apologize and beg for forgiveness of any wrong doing of myself or my ancestors. The absolute most wonderful friends I have that I can and have counted on for prayer are the most confident beautiful black women ever know. I’m so blessed and thankful from r black lives.

Speaking as someone who was born and raised in Shelby, I've always seen us having a Confederate monument in town square as a sore thumb of regressive views and hatred. Past time for monuments to this bile to be torn down.

Long overdue, these figures and what they represent should have never been glorified in the front and center of our community. Let's replace them with true heroes who stand for what Shelby strives to be about today!
