I believe removing these statues from the city to a museum or more appropriate place should be done as soon as possible. That way our youth don’t idolize these figures.

I grew up here. Let’s take away honor from those who built a country on bigotry. Don’t destroy it, put it in a museum where we can learn from part mistakes.

I’m fairly new to Shelby so when I was registering my children for school, I happened across this plaque in front of the school administration building. I was appalled that such a man and his racist work was being advertised and honored, even worse at that location!! I support this removal %100!!!

These landmarks are a painful reminder of our country's racist past. Please remove/rename them, and leave their remembrance to the history books where proper context can be provided.
