I have 2 children that attend Hamilton Elementary School In Novato and everyday I watch people turn left on a "No Left Turns" sign. I 've counted anywhere from 30 to 60 cars daily including a taxi and city vehicle make that turn and thats just what I saw before leaving the school myself. I received a $255 ticket the very first time I turned left against that sign Feb 1st, 2011. The officer stated that the sign is there to control traffic by the school but all it is doing is diverting traffic down C st where 2 more schools are located. I have witnessed people making illegal uturns on C street which is extremly unsafe. I’m started this petition to remove this sign because no one is actually following it causing confusion to other drivers on what the sign really means and its a huge inconvenience and the signs reason for being there in the first place is voided when the Charter school is given all their traffic and more unsafe conditions are being cause by it being there. The sign it self is very confusing. I have been here 6 months and saw many parents turning left and I did it once thinking those hours on the sign meant that those times were excluded. Please if you have a child that goes to this school and you have been impacted by this inconvenience then please sign this petition and lets get this sign removed.
