Formal Membership Request for Removal of Dr. Sarita Bennett as MANA President

We need a president that represents all the autonomous midwives. Please resign ASAP, remove Sarita Bennett.

I support a legitimate election and call for the removal of Sarita Bennett

Sarita Bennett must go. No one who “represents” midwives to legislatures, medical organizations and other public meetings should hold the views she does. She is profoundly dangerous for midwifery in this country and her views and statements are destructive. Sarita must go. Resign. Remove her. Whatever it takes.

Please remove Sarita Bennett as President of MANA. She does not have my best interest at heart.

As a voting member of MANA, I agree that the membership should vote on all leadership.

I support midwives. We need a president who will always support midwives no matter what and in a full capacity. MANA serves all midwives and all midwives need unwavering support. We need an election. I am awaiting my ballot.

I call for the removal of Sarita Bennett

I support the removal of Sarita Benetton. She is unelected as well as many of the current board. I would like to a revision of MANA and how to move forward in these times.

As a former board member it saddens, embarrasses and angers me to see the damage Sarita is causing to MANA and it’s mission. Our credibility as midwives is damaged by her words and actions. Sarita must not continue as acting President if we are to rebuild MANA.

This is not the time for us to be divided. Personal conflicts between midwives cannot evolve into the destruction of midwifery and birthing autonomy. We must come together (midwives of all credentials) against all those who desire to oppress midwifery and the families we serve. MANA is too important to midwifery to allow it to decline, dissolve, or be shrouded in controversy. If we aren’t with one another we are against one another. It is long past time for formal nominations and an election. It’s time to bring integrity, respect, diversity, empathy, and equity to MANA and bring back the original passion that made MANA an organization that created unity amongst midwives. We must bring DEMs, CPMs, CNMs, CMs, LMs, and traditional birth keepers together to support birthing families across North America. To be against any type of midwife is to be against midwifery as a whole.

This much controversy is not good for an organization—it is time to step down and allow for a legitimate election.

Please just step down.

Please, MANA board, refer to the letter sent today, Aug 3, 2021, to the MANA Board from former MANA presidents, committee chairs, and other supporters, asking for the board to fulfill three items. 1) Institute formal elections by members. 2) call for the resignation of board president Sarita Bennett. 3) begin a strategic visioning session to rebirth MANA in communion with other a diverse collective of people & stakeholders. My comments to this petition are contained within that letter. Thank you.

I stand with VA CPMs for midwife autonomy. The words spoken a few weeks ago and the threats to speak against CPM autonomy to those in power from a person of Sarita Bennett's position can have a sobering effect on other states. She should not represent the midwives as President of MANA. I ask that she be removed from the office of President. NC needs support for CPM licensure and having a President of MANA speak so negatively about midwife autonomy and CPMs can and likely will have a rippling effect here. I have been disappointed in the way Sarita Bennett has responded to critics. Each one in a leadership position must understand that words have consequence and have to think about the potential harm that can be done when a person of influence speaks out .

I call for the removal of Sarita Bennet as interim president of the board of directors of MANA and a call for a vote of no confidence from the membership of MANA.

This is the time for a MANA re-generation. This can only occur with ELECTED board members. The current board was not elected. It is time for new leadership and new direction.

I am the 2nd President of MANA (1986) and I have a Lifetime Membership and I am calling for the removal of Sarita Bennett.
