The class should expand to include other unfair practices of IMDb. There are over 200 messages posted to internet boards about unfair billing and credit card charges for services not received.

Publishing birth dates in public DBs facilitates identity theft. It is becoming a huge societal problem when personal and heretofore private information is used to fraudulently obtain goods or credit. It harms more than one victim per occurrence. It's a corporate social responsibility and a matter of ethics. Please halt the practice of aiding cyber based criminals. Protect private and personal information first and foremost by refusing to make it accessible on the Internet.

This loophole must be closed. If it is illegal to ask us directly about our age, then it is wrong to have it provided through IMDB!

Not true. I have an IMDB PRO paid subscription and they still refuse to remove it. A while back, someone hacked into my account and submitted a fictitious birth date under my profile among other false things in my profile. When I contacted them about this they removed everything but the fake birth date. They told me to send a copy of my birth certificate to prove that the birth date is incorrect. But, I won't send it out of fear that they will list the correct one. I never even submitted a birth date to them in the first place, but they still won't take it off...and I'm not even a known actor. I have only 2 credits. They claim that they don't remove birth dates because they choose to keep information that they believe to be true. This excuse is just bullshit in my opinion, because I asked them to remove incorrect biographical information and other false trivia which they did. So I don't understand how a false birth date given is not the same thing. It sounds more like they are hell bent on listing as many actors' ages as possible whether the information is true, false, or listed without the actor's knowledge. What they should do, is ask for a copy of the actor's birth certificate, drivers license, etc. if that said actor elects to list their date of birth. This way, they have legitimate proof that it's the actual actor submitting it and not someone else.

With rampant Identity theft now it's ridiculous to force people to keep their birthdays on IMDB. Mine is real and I don't care about ppl knowing my age because I don't audition for roles. But I would be very upset If I did. I also see friends with fake birthdates on IMDB. I really like IMDB. But wish they would clean it up a little. Take away living peoples birthdates (option) and when NON CREDITED take the credit away.
