Remove the WLWV Superintendent — and to Recall Board Members Who Refuse to Act
We, the undersigned members of the West Linn–Wilsonville community, call on the School Board to remove the Superintendent based on a serious breach of trust and a pattern of misleading leadership.
1. Withholding Key Information During the Bond Campaign
Voters were asked to support a bond advertised as serving and improving our schools. Less than two weeks after it passed, the district announced recommendations to close some of those same schools. The possibility of closures was never disclosed to the public during the campaign.
2. Not Presenting All Options
The Superintendent did not provide the community or the Board with a full range of alternatives, including:
closing the smallest and most expensive-to-operate school — the option that would save the most money,
considering administrative reductions,
using enrollment balancing already available within district plans.
Instead, the public was told there were only two choices.
3. Dividing the Community With a False Narrative
District leadership repeatedly framed the situation as “close schools or cut teachers,” creating fear and conflict. Other viable options were withheld, leaving families and staff misled and divided.
Our Request and Accountability
For these reasons, we believe the Superintendent has lost the trust required to lead our district. We respectfully petition the School Board to terminate the Superintendent’s contract and bring in leadership committed to transparency, honesty, and student-centered decision-making.
If the School Board chooses not to act, we will pursue all available democratic options — including the recall of board members who decline to uphold transparency and community trust.
