Summit has not improved the learning abilities of the children in the Fairview Park high school and middle school. Many students actually should have failed the grade but were given a pass. As if that wasn't bad enough, the removal of due dates is making them believe that they can finish things whenever they want as opposed to needing to manage their time. I believe that this is harming the education of the students instead of helping them. For the students who are bored with the standard curriculum, this is an advantage, but for the children who do not do their work, this has proven to be a way for them to not do their work without repercussions. It is also an excuse for teachers to expect the students to teach themselves. A new rule involving the inability to take content assessments outside of that class, causes some who are not good at passing assessments to have less opportunities to take tests. This also limits the time others can take tests too, because the teaches have to do some things in a class. Most students haven't taken to the platform, with the school having to change what they have called it every year to make it sound more friendly to the incoming students, but from what I heard, it hasn't worked and students still don't like it. All in all, the Summit Personalized Learning Platform has diminished the Fairview School System

My cousin is involved in this and she tells me that she is barely learning anything from this program.

The "teachers" just give us work and expect us to know what we're doing. That's why so many people went to summer school. Now it's called Self Directive Learning which is a dumb decision because they're basically shouting at us that we teach ourselves. Damn this platform. I'm glad I'm switching schools.

As a parent and an alum of FHS, I am DISGUSTED with this program. We are the laughingstock of the West Side! My child is learning NOTHING except how to manipulate the system. The Administration refuses to listen to anything negative and insists that this program is effective...even though the only class that hit the target on the State Report Card was Government, which is NOT on Summit...as the Superintendent himself said!

The teachers don't care if we fall behind, they care about the contracts and money. Multiple years with this sentence to my personal hell, and still not out of summer school. This platform is tearing students apart, and the teachers don't care.

No one told the parents Summit was coming. It was just dropped on us on the first day of school. There is no option to opt out. Our children are being used as guinea pigs for an untested system backed by an unethical billionaire who now has access to personal data on our kids, whether we approve or not. The leadership of Fairview schools refuse to listen to our concerns. I have supported every levy, but not this time. It appears the only way the district will listen is if we close our wallets.

Summit needs to go. The community has been very clear on this, but the superintendent and the director of teaching and learning are convinced this program is working. Their arrogance and refusal to listen to the taxpayers is appalling.

Please get the message out to older community members, who may not do Facebook but really do care about this issue! Grandparents, tax payers, etc.
