The Boston school bus drivers union, USW Local 8751, is in Solidarity with the Black community's demands to remove this and all other representations of racism and inequality which abound in the statues, symbols and place names of this city and state, founded 400 years ago on the genocide and slavery of Indigenous and African peoples.

This is not representative of freedom. Please remove the current monument and consider something more equitable in it’s place.,I’m actually completely caught off guard and disgusted that this exists.

This thing belongs in a museum exhibit on white supremacy --- showing that even among whites that supported the end of slavery, there were those not ready to accept the freed slaves as equals.

Our nation was blessed to have a leader of Lincoln's caliber and humanity during that period of our history. So, it is with no disrespect to Lincoln, that I sign this petition. Mr. Bullock raises a valid point and I agree with him that, for the reasons he expressed, the statue should be replaced; and I commend him for his efforts to make that happen.

The first time I saw it —many years ago — I hated it. Recycle the material into a statue for Frederick Douglass.

This Monument doesn't represent Freedom at all. Sad & disturbing, I see a monument that emasculated a black man. I would have like to see him stand side by side. To show change of EQUALLY. It did not happen & that is why the request in being made with a petition. Simply do what's right, just remove it. Stop with the nonsense.

Proud to be from Boston and to bring my children back regularly to enjoy the city and it’s historical treasures. Please do the right thing and replace this statue with one that reflects the contributions of people of color to our country’s history.
