I agree, this statue has to go. I believe that Lincoln has a place in our countries history, but this statue represents superiority of the white man over the African American.

Either remix the statue to have the free man shaking hands with Lincoln or Just remove it altogether.

This is very offensive and needs to go. Even If they are celebrating freeing the slaves, why would’t the slave be standing side-by-side with him like a man and not on the ground in chains like a dog? BTW, Lincoln didn't free slaves bc he thought they were HUMAN BEINGS or deserved to be free. He only freed them to help them fight in the war. He was gon lose without the help of slaves. He promised them freedom if they helped fight. True US History

In his day the artist probably had good intentions relative to how most white people thought back then, but we should all be better than this now. This isn't one of those statues where historical context makes it okay. We don't need to see a high and mighty white man as protector of a subordinate class. The black man should be standing tall.

This statue should have been removed a long time ago. It wouldn’t be hard to imagine a more fitting monument to the end of slavery or Lincoln

This is offensive and by no means a sign of freedom. Please, get rid of this statue. We cannot continue to allow anything like this to be on display in Boston, or elsewhere. At least we have the option of stopping it here. Let’s be on the right side of history and get this removed.

This should be removed because it doesn’t fairly depict freedom but showing a person of color below a white person
