Take this statue down or rework it into something where the freed man is shown with dignity and agency. This seems like a great opportunity to transform something harmful into something new and positive. I bet there are a ton of talented artists who would be interested in remaking something like this.

I work near here and it has never seemed like a good depiction of our true history at All. There are much better subjects for statues if you are into statues.

This statue implies that African Americans played a passive role in emancipation. Keep the memory of Honest Abe honest with a memorial that better reflects what led up to the Emancipation Proclamation.
