Yeah, this is a messed up statue that needs to go...
Also, I’m 100% up for statues of real historical black people. Black people even got us to the moon - I think we can do a little better than caricatures (which are always problematic at best) don’t you?

This statue has artistic, sociological, and historical interest, but its imagery is paternalistic and unintentionally demeaning to African-American people. As such, it does not celebrate Emancipation appropriately for the 21st century. It should be replaced with a new work on the same subject, while this statue may be transferred to a museum setting.

The statue bothered me since 5th, it needs to be removed. If Black Folks paid for there shouldn’t be a problem having it removed.

Statues do not move. If both men were already standing, how would you know a slave was being freed. Please don't reinterpret the sculptors intent to your current day political narrative. Don't be the Taliban.
