Remove The Emancipation Memorial/Freedman Statue

Brilliant petition and brilliantly spoken for! Love the ‘Crazy White Museum’ idea.

This has got to go. I never knew this statute existed and it does absolutely NO good! It has no place in this country!

I really don't see the need to maintain any monument that's offensive to Boston residents. Tear down Columbus too and rename Faneuil Hall. People are more important than statues and buildings.

Time to put this statue in a museum and commission a new one that displays equality not submissiveness

I keep reading this and news around it, over and over. I wonder if provided an opportunity could little kids have a solution to making this a better sculpture for today and their future? Can it be extended with the hand reaching to something better and man rising, pivoting and spiraling, side by side with many others and children on their shoulders reaching higher to a just, humane and united culture? Bring the full story and museum of this story outside and walk in the steps of those before us. At the end of this thinking, I say, this solves nothing because we need action now and then I feel anger again. Commission new art.

Why is it 2020 and we’re signing a petition NOW to take down a statue THAT CLEARLY SIGNIFIES DEGRADING OF OUR PEOPLE??????

No American should have to see their oppressors immortalized in public spaces.

I find this monument to be offensive and unsure what it’s intention was/is. It needs to be removed promptly.

we can't brow-beat the South for not removing their Jeff Davis statues but not do the work ourselves.
