I appreciate this effort to remove all racist iconography from Boston. Just because it was our history, that doesn’t mean should celebrate it. Let’s leave it where it belongs, in the past.

Statuary does nothing for me, so I'm embarrassed to say I've never noticed this thing before. Now that I've seen it, I'm horrified. Nobody needs this statue in Boston. Please remove it.

So, Ive lived in Boston and now Quincy for over 10 years, and before that, i was in DC. I never even knew these statues existed - but clearly, given the imagery, they should be removed. If Fredrick Douglass was like, "nah, im not feeling this", and Tory Bullock is asking respectfully for Boston to take a look at this....then something should be done. Period.

This statue should be removed. And the CC statue that was decapitated should not be brought back. AND, Boston needs more public art by diverse artists.

Put this statue in a museum that will present it appropriatly. Replace it with one portraying the dignity of Lincoln and emancipated African Americans.

Let's be real, all you have to do is LOOK at this statue in order to know it is a product of a time long since passed. It isn't even an original---it's a copy of on in DC. Let's take it down, maybe put up a Frederick Douglass statue instead? He was at least as important as Lincoln in the fight for emancipation.
