We, the undersigned residents of Hawthorn Metropolitan District and Table Rock Ridge community, request the Colorado Department of Transportation remove the obsolete 100’ of turn lane striping north of 58th avenue on highway 93 in Golden. This striping was the turn lane from Hwy 93 into Golden Peak Dairy that no longer exists after the development of the Hawthorn – Table Rock Ridge community. Houses now sit 100’ from Hwy 93 where the Dairy was historically located. The turn lane is confusing because it is a very short distance from the turn lane to 58th avenue and it could be mistaken for an entrance into the community. The residents feel this turn lane is a safety hazard because if motorists were to use the turn lane and make a turn in the dark, in low visibility or slippery weather conditions, they could drive directly into homes, fencing and community walking paths. This safety hazard could be easily and inexpensively mitigated by removing the painted stripe that defines the turn lane. The residents of Hawthorn – Table Rock Ridge respectfully request CDOT remove this obsolete turn lane striping.
