One of the great tragedies of the current NHL is that we have to listen to Mike Emrick every year during the playoffs instead of our own announcers. Nothing personal against him. I'm sure he's a very nice guy but I can't stand his play calling and his mastery of the obvious such as "the game started tied and after no goals in the period, the game is still tied." Arrrghh! Are you kidding me? The timbre of his voice doesn't help either. I don't need the beautiful, artistic, ornery phases. I like my play by plays simple and direct .Excuse my little English lesson, but I think the reason why I am annoyed by his play call is that he describes the action in the passive tense most of the time. ie "A shot by Crosby, a drive by Letang, save by ... " How about using the active tense such as "Crosby shoots! Lundqvist makes the save!" Growing up a Kings fan, I've been spoiled to Bob Miller and I miss the days of Gary Thorne calling the play by play on ESPN. How about a petition for Gary Thorne to come back?

Absolutely sick and tired of his garbage adjectives to describe the play. He gets overly excited way to much... There are way better announcers to take his place! And send Pierre packing as well!
