Truman State University does not allow communication majors to enroll in marketing courses, even though business administration majors can enroll in public relations and advertising. Public Relations, Advertising, and Marketing are becoming increasingly integrated in the digital age. Failure to teach all three disciplines to the communication students who wish to study them is a failure at the highest level for the university. Since communication majors cannot study marketing (specifically BSAD 325), many communication students are unprepared for the marketplace, and are losing jobs to more prepared students from other universities. By not allowing communication students to study marketing, while simultaneously allowing business students to study communication, Truman State University is engaging in DISCIPLINE DISCRIMINATION--and its students face the consequences by being unprepared. Sign the petition if you agree that Truman should change its policy to allow students thirsty for knowledge the opportunity to achieve it.
