Remove Colne Speed Bumps

We need to remove these pollution generating obstacles if we are serious about improving the quality of air in our locality. The cleanest, safest and most economical way to drive is in a high gear at a constant speed and throttle setting. Speed humps run contrary to all these factors.

These humps are a vicious menace which damage my car each time I have to cross them

My husband cannot go along there easily as it is too uncomfortable.

It also makes people speed when they leave Colne towards Somersham. Regularly people overtake along there.

Complete waste of money, bad for the environment and damages your car.

You may not be technically minded, and you may not be particularly interested in road humps, but wanton waste of public money should be of concern to every citizen in what still passes for a free country - as should a multilayered system of local government that is as wasteful and self-serving as it is inefficient and arrogant.

When will those who say we need these bumps listen to us who see no need for them.

Ironical that those who suffer most from these things are nearby residents. As with potholes, local authorities should be liable for damage to vehicles driving over them when within the actual speed limit.

The bumps are too high, I think speed control methods are needed here, but these speed bumps are too high and sharp, making drivers brake suddenly and practically have to stop to prevent damage to their vehicles.

Very painful going over them (as a passenger) with a broken arm.

The speed humps are intended to ensure the 30mph limit is not exceeded, not to reduce a car's speed to 5 or 10 mph risking accidents from cars following who are surprised by the braking which is necessary. These particular speed humps are too high and do not allow a reasonable flow in the traffic. If they have to remain then the height should be reduced to a level which slows the traffic ...not stops it. It's a matter of time before an accident occurs. Please look at this again Colne PC.

They are a hazard and I have an older car and have gone the long way round rather than go over these I would imagen they could be very dangerous in snow if deep one would no know they are there unless local ?? and or just ice conditions ???

Speed bumps in Colne are far too high, and even at very low speed are scraping the underside of my car, which in turn may lead to damage to my car. It's obvious that they are too high as there deep gouges in them, where contact has been made to vehicles.

I have a mini and these bumps are seriously not good even at the slowest of speeds !!! Who’s going to pay for any damage is caused over time by these bumps ??

Either scrape my car, or eventually will damage wheels/suspension. More dangerous vehicles such as lorries and vans still speed. I have been overtaken by a large van whilst negotiating the bumps. They are not safe.

I only went over them at a slow speed as a new car and heard a loud bang now I won’t go that way

I always drive and appreciate the speed limit and calming measures, but these are scraping the underside of my car. I'm not asking to remove the humps, but they should be made lower as its unacceptable to be damaging vehicles. Thanks

I have seen larger vehicles completely ignore these bumps and speed across them while cars like my own are getting scraped even when we are driving under the limit.
